The Book of Mormon has the answer.

Exceptional Mormon Metaphysics –– Magic Realism

Aside from boring Christianity there is an alternative, another parochial form of Jesus Worship. Mormons have a "Medium" to protect us from the natural man and other evil spirits too.

Juvenile Instructors exploits

Juvenile Instructors exploit the rich diggings of Mormon Conjecture and Mormon mystery. Mormon History is both enigmatic and fanciful.

The Prophet with his supplicants: The Mormons are engaged in the blood-sport business of religion making with ruffles and flourishes, ruthless abandon and chutzpa. The Mormon Tribals carry on doing what they do to climb to the stars to populate infinity, and we, the unsashed will be left behind.

Religion making business
Contemporary Politics, Mormonism, and Sehat’s Myth of American Religious Freedom

The case for some restraint on American Religious Freedoms or Profligate Religious Promiscuity

With a flourish of Religious Enterprise Mormons have clearly taken these freedoms far too far –– to the max.
Comment by Gus O Kahan
Question on Religious Freedom –– Agency in The Religion Making Business
Are the players ever honest or are we dealing with unreliable narrators making it up as we go along?
Religion is, of course, subjective and requires some sort of leap to free fall into the wrap of a preordained reality. Such as it is, The Mormon Takes on how things work –– the plan of salvation is, as it is –– heaped conjecture. Still contested by many thinkers and scholars; Mormons themselves have a difficult time embracing all the ins’ and outs’, all the working parts in the plan of salvation.
Religious Freedom does have some problems, Mormons could fall within this purview. Mormons started by claiming more land and money than was needed –– like the faith itself. Some religions believe less is more, in the market there are so many Swamis and there is so Little Time.
For Religion to claim Divine Right there must be some thought behind the premise, for Mormonism, this has never been fully divined.
On religious freedom, a programmer would chime, “What’s with all this stuff tagged on? This won’t run on any machine I know of. Jesus, you’d think Elohim would think things out first ya know –– garbage in . . . “The Religion Making Business is not tidy but, what the heck, slaughter the goat anyway.”

With an oath like that who needs to pledge to a flag?
But if it is like unringing a bell: Mitt Romney could take an Un-oath disavowing any previous vows that supersede our oath of allegiance. If that were to be done, publicly without caveat or reservation then, of course, Mitt Romney is fully vetted and a viable candidate for high office despite his Mormon faith.

How Thomas Aquinas’s Theory Of Scripture Explains Why Jimmer Fredette Is The Hinge On Which Modern Mormonism Pivots
By: matt b. - February 09, 2011

For it is written Agency is written on your Jersey, so much agency so little time.

Response to How Thomas Aauinas's Theory of Scripture Explains Modern Mormonism

By: Gabriel Von Himmel
With Agency and the Anthem, “for it is already written”
Seeking the Mormon Rainbow of Permutations with authority and blessed tangents for truth in the faith, should it be Jimmer or the Jeraneck or Beck –– or all three?
After looking through this post, I can see there is still a wish for singularity in the shiny face of another “Great White Hope,” in the name of Jimmer, a basketball player in Utah unknown to any beyond the camp that worships such stuff is a stretch on which to hang one’s spiritual star. I could carry on with one run-on sentence after the next, dropping names and places in a facile amalgamation to both baffle and bedazzle for the sake of some faith or another –– to draw attention to the writer rather than what’s written, but, life is short and run-ons linger to some unresigned completion for the instructor brotherhood of juveniles in the “religion making business” for Mormon Basketball?
And it came to pass, beyond the Mormon Temple stretches the Utah Badlands, go hither and make them green. With the evolving social construct absorbing a multitude of cultural lenses, there is soon to be a place in time for All Mormons to reinsert themselves into weft of this tapestry, with full Mormon Restoration, returning to that purest of faith requirements, polygamy and all, reconciling FLDS and LDS forever, and more, both here and in the hereafter forever –– this may be part of the plan of salvation for everybody. Now there is a new prophet afoot with a completed new and updated work of bibical proportion to ponder, The Book of Jeraneck, yes, there is still more room under the Big Tent of Mormon Branding, here’s hoping Mormon Youth-in-Asia learn to accept this newest of all white heros and root along too.
Good luck and lots of prayer for Jimmer and Gill to carry the faith into the New Light of Brighter Days to the end-time;
Glenn Beck has his own club to drag along as well. One could forget the whole idea and just buy gold.

W. Paul Reeve

Michael Scott Van Wagenen
In 1995, astronomer Carl Sagan wrote the best-selling book, The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark. According to Sagan, the modern world could yet be set free from its enduring state of ignorance through the rejection of irrational belief and the acceptance of the scientific method. Indeed, he touched upon an enduring, fundamental conflict between the superstitious mind and the critical mind. Scientists such as Sagan claim that with perfect knowledge, all phenomena in the universe may be explained through natural laws. The limits of our understanding, however, have always created a vast unknown territory, which innately inquisitive humans have filled with a pantheon of gods and demons. This "supernatural" world lies beyond the defining parameters of natural law, allowing the human imagination free rein in the shadowy margins of knowledge and ignorance.
Sagan's conflict is not limited to the natural sciences. Ancient scribes often recorded their histories in the context of unseen gods whose capricious intercession brought fortune or famine upon a people. As a result, they often embraced fantastic claims with little grounding in the rational world of natural law. During the fifth century BCE, the Greek scholar Herodotus rejected such convention in favor of a more scientific analysis. While chronicling the events of the second war between the Greeks and the Persians, he explained his new methodology: "My duty is to report all that is said; but I am not obliged to believe it all alike." It is this new critical approach that disting

Cain wanders the frontier as a Bigfoot-like hairy beast and confronts an early Mormon apostle. An evil band of murderers from Mormon scripture, known as the Gadianton robbers, provides an excuse for the failure of a desert town. Stories of children raised from the dead with decayed bodies and damaged minds help draw boundaries between the proper spheres of human and divine action. Mormons who observe UFOs in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries find ways to explain them in relation to the church’s cosmology. The millenarian dimension of that belief system induces church members to invest in the Dream Mine, a hidden treasure that a would-be heir to Joseph Smith wraps in prophecy of the end times. A Utah version of Nessie haunts a large mountain lake. Non-Mormons attempt to discredit Joseph Smith with tales that he had tried and failed to walk on water.
Mormons gave distinctive meanings to supernatural legends and events, but their narratives incorporated motifs found in many cultures. Many such historical legends and beliefs found adherents down to the present. This collection employs folklore to illuminate the cultural and religious history of a people.

Some Thoughts on the Mormon Kingdom of God, circa 1840s

By: Ben P - January 04, 2011
The idea of the Kingdom of God and American Exceptionalism as seen through the lense of Mormon Thinking or Liberty Through Obedience Theology

American Exceptionalism and the Manifest
the Invisible Hand and free land

There seems to be a noted lack of comment on obvious forces that swept Joseph Smith to prominence. As one not schooled in Mormon History but aware of currents in the American Experience, I must mention the influence of the Mystical Great Awakening, American Exceptionalism, Manifest Destiny and the Jacksonian Era; all shaped Mormonism by default yet Mormonism had no influence on any of these events.
Without Andrew Jackson Joseph Smith would have been merely a whimper, the notion: magical white people on a new continent, vacant of_any reasonable opposing force made this land, bounded by two oceans, a blessing granted by “God himself.” As it is our right to explore those possibilities using the forces of “old scripture” and the invention of new revelations as tools to explore this virgin soil; opening space to explore with new agency on the fringe of the unfolding continent.
A second unnoticed event was the industrialization of Britain. I believe the term Dickensian was coined to express the utter desolation of the lower classes of Great Britain. The marketing event was to send Mormon Apostles to commingle with opportunity; to populate space, to lay claim to territory in the name of a theocracy. With the tease of free land, a modicum of human rights and a religion not unrecognizable, opportunity, a great leap for the starving British citizen without land or promise.
The Frontier of America was ripe with all forms of speculation, and Mormonism was just one. The co-opted Amish Communitarian social structure was enough to separate Mormons from the great frontier spirit and the Great Awakening provided the momentum for Joseph and Apostles to tinker with imaginings.
I believe a compelling case can be made for acknowledgment of historical forces rather than personalities driving the early successes of Mormonism, British overpopulation and famine of unwanted masses was prime for pickings. It’s no great trick to lure a human from hopeless feted slums, sweating for British Merchant / Aristocracy (a grimy hopelessness) to a new land and new hope on a new continent of possibility.
Yes, the cult of personality was a matter of being born in a time of infinite possibility both spiritual and material. Just don’t be Native-American. It would be good to ask, what would Joseph Smith be without Andrew Jackson and his unrelenting drive for States Rights, de-solution of the National Bank, Mexican–American War and disobedience to the Supreme Court. With Andrew Jackson anything was possible, including a New Religion recognizable but not too much different but with a Prophet at the Helm. The Divine Right Rite is undeniably compelling and location, location, location.
